6. News Letter December 2009

December 2009

To all Prayer Partners, Donors and Friends:

As we prepare for Christmas during this Advent season, my wish for the STEKA children is to celebrate life and life in abundance. It always reminds me of John 10:10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance.

Last week we were sponsored to go to an exclusive camp called Mvuu Camp. Mvuu meaning hippopotamus. We were treated for 5 days by a program from Wilderness Safaris called “Children in the Wilderness.” What a well prepared curriculum! Our children had a ball… laughing, playing, sweating and just having fun. Isn’t that what all children are supposed to have…..FUN? Not rejected or bullied by other people, running to the street and sleeping in any foxhole they can find….just having fun.

Chikonde (Love) seeing the camp. We had to cross the Shire River first to start our week long journey.

Now in value the whole week was worth about $10,000, and you know there is no money in the world that can replace the fun these first timers had. The game drives, dinners, the luxurious chalets, the clothing and love and attention they received from fellow Malawians… it was amazing!

The children were always busy with a high energy games. Here they are preparing for a game of football (soccer) in the dust.

This elephant approached us and came just too close for comfort. But this is the image our children will remember.

This photo is taken inside a massive Baobab tree. It consists of three trees- the Baobab tree, a big leaf fig tree and a small leaf fig tree. At the back is Alex with me and three of our children- Happy, Bright and Edith.

For this year and for the future I would like to thank Bram and Joke (Holland), all the sponsors on my cycle trips Felix Starker and Hodges Boulevard Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, Florida for your prayers, love and financial support in 2009. From me and Godknows (in the right photo), thanks a million.

God is good, all the time,
